Diary of a non-breastfeeding mama – Episode 2

September 29, 2016 TheSpanishMom 0

Previously on “Diary of a non-breastfeeding mama – Episode 1“… … 24 hours after we left the hospital a nurse came home to check on the baby and to make sure that we were doing fine (I know! Canadian system is just amazing!) and she gave me some bad news… Baby had dropped more weight than expected so we needed to keep an eye on that. She referred me to the postpartum lactation group so [Continue Reading…]

Diary of a non-breastfeeding mama – Episode 1

September 26, 2016 TheSpanishMom 0

I have lately looked with a little bit of envy to the breastfeeding mamas out there because I have always wanted to be part of that “tribe”. Not breastfeeding my little baby was something unthinkable to me while a was pregnant, it was never an option in my head: I was going to breastfeed him no matter what. There were not many things written in my birth plan but one of them was to have [Continue Reading…]

MomGiggles #1 – The unexpected “peekaboo”

September 21, 2016 TheSpanishMom 0

Parenting is not only about sleepless nights, nappies, feeding and raising our children, it’s also about having fun. Actually one of the perks of being a parent is having tons of funny anecdotes to share with friends and family and, in my case, to share in my blog. For this reason, I’m going to start a new series called “MomGiggles” where I will share some funny anecdotes of being a first-time-mom. If I’m able to [Continue Reading…]

Prenatal Classes in Calgary – Part 2 (Classes with a fee)

September 19, 2016 TheSpanishMom 0

One of my subscribers recently asked me about the continuation of the post about prenatal classes in Calgary. When you don’t have that many subscribers (one of them your husband, ha!) you definitely have to take good care of them so it’s time for me to write the second part of this series!! In case that you don’t remember, in the first post I reviewed the free prenatal classes so in this one I will [Continue Reading…]

5 Reasons to Go to the Calgary Public Library Programs

September 15, 2016 TheSpanishMom 0

Yesterday I went to my first “Baby Rhyme Time” class offered by the Calgary Public Library and it was a great experience. I had previously heard about these free programs for babies (such as Mother Goose) but this is the first time that I actually go and check it myself and let me tell you that this is definitely worth it. For those of you that are not familiar with these programs, the Calgary Library [Continue Reading…]

September Project – Nursery – Part 2: The Popcorn fiasco

September 12, 2016 TheSpanishMom 0

As I described in my previous September Project post (the plan), the first step in the Nursery project was to repaint the popcorn ceiling in white as well as painting all the walls in a cream color. By doing that we would no longer have a “half-painted” room with some walls painted in purple and others painted in cream. We would also cover some stains and patches from the previous owner. In order for me [Continue Reading…]

Meet the Community Members…

September 8, 2016 TheSpanishMom 0

I recently got really excited with the idea of joining a local Moms Community Forum. The excitement was mainly caused by two reasons: I would have the chance to meet new moms close to my area and (maybe) find a good “tribe” of moms to connect with, get together, share similar experiences/anecdotes and have a good time and secondly, because I would have the chance to (hopefully) do some good networking that would help me [Continue Reading…]

Why do I blog?

September 5, 2016 TheSpanishMom 0

A couple of days ago I had a conversation with my husband about one of the posts that I had recently published. In that post I was openly talking about my maternity leave and my desire about not coming back to work any time soon. My husband mentioned that he really liked it BUT (dangerous word) he was concerned that someone from work could read it and then I would get in trouble for being [Continue Reading…]

September Project – Nursery – Part 1: The Plan

September 1, 2016 TheSpanishMom 0

For those of you that still don’t know me, I’m a person that loves staying busy, extremely busy sometimes, so I have a never-ending list of pending/future projects that I work on over time on top of my 24×7 mommy job with my 3-month old baby and my full time job at the office (although I’m currently on maternity leave). Don’t get me wrong, I can also enjoy a good lazy weekend but it’s not [Continue Reading…]
